2017 IS ALMOST OVER, and that means it’s time to talk about your Private Health Dental Insurance. Most dental plans don’t let the benefits roll over into the next year if they go unused. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of all your benefits, then now is the time to do so!
We accept all major Health Funds including HCF, NIB, Medibank, Westfund, Frank plus many more. Claiming at the end of your appointments is easier than ever using our HICAPS terminals, simply swipe your Private Health Fund card & only pay the Gap with us claiming from your Health Fund instantly with nothing needed on your end. We are also a HCF Preferred Provider meaning that you get more back from HCF when you visit one of our Dentists. Visit HCF to find out more
Generally most Health Funds will pay at least 40-60% for a full checkup and scale and clean each year, some may even pay for these every 6 months. General Dental is usually covered by all Health Funds even the basic cover with no waiting periods. Usually you get a certain $ amount put towards any General Dental work done so make sure you use it up before it’s gone. General Dental includes things like your everyday fillings, chipped teeth, extractions, fissure seals and sometimes Whitening. Major Dental however usually is only offered in the level up from the basic cover & usually requires 12 months Waiting Period before you can claim on any “Major Dental”. Major Dental includes things like Root Canals, Crowns, Implants & Dentures. Most Health Funds if you have “Major Dental” in your cover will pay around $500-$600 a year for crowns so this is a great way to get Crowns on teeth need extra support (teeth that have had Root Canal Treatment done or a large part of the tooth is filling. Talk to your Dentist to work out a plan of which teeth will need Crowns and work out which ones are more urgent and work through getting 1 crown done every year to make the most of your Heath Fund Cover that you pay for.
If you haven’t had a clean and checkup in the last 6-12 months get one done around the start of December so that if you do need any work done you can get it booked in before the end of the year so make the most of your Health Fund so that you can start fresh with your Cover and money in 2018! Don’t’ forget things like Root Canals or Crowns usually need 1-3 appointments spread over a week or two between each visit to get in early!
We’re always looking out for our patients and want to make sure you’re taking the fullest advantage of your benefits! If you have any questions regarding dental insurance, stop by or call us today and we can help!
